Description: This is a gorgeous, lush, buttery soft silk velvet 1920's jacket, in deep midnight blue. This fabric is softer to the touch than a newborn kitten! So wonderful!
It has great piping trim detail on the bell shaped sleeves, and an attached silk scarf that ties around the neck. Open in front. Lined inside with beige raw silk, the jacket has the label of "G. Fox and Company", an expensive Hartford, Connecticut department store that no longer exists.
Condition:
In excellent vintage condition, steam-cleaned, with just maybe a faint fabric color fade on the right shoulder, that is hardly noticeable.
Size:
Small. It has no front closures except the neck ties, but edge to edge, the bust measures 36 inches, the waist is 36, the shoulders are 14, sleeves are 24 inches, and the total length is 42 inches.

Dramatic Deco Vintage 20's-30's Black Lace Bias Cut Dress XS

Description: From an old Vermont estate in Middletown Springs comes this amazing black lace evening dress, circa 1928-1932, that is so flattering to your figure! This dress is special, with amazing details. It has 3 beautiful diagonal accordian pleated panels, bias cut, across the torso, and chantilly lace and black chiffon alternating panels on the flowing skirt. The top part of the dress is black illusion lace over a nude silk lining (lining has damage). Under the skirt is a black silk built-in underskirt. There is no waist seam. The dress is true black. (Necklaces are not included.)
It is both hand and machine sewn with tiny stitches. It has black silk piping around the simple round neckline and sleeveless arm openings. The only closures are 3 metal snaps at the top of one shoulder, but the top of the shoulder is half sewn shut and half snaps so you need to be small to get it over your shoulders. The dress slips over your head and is meant to be worn loose on the body. Be sure to allow plenty of room between the measurements, and your body measurements, for ease of movement.
Condition:
It is in good vintage condition, excellent on the outside but with tears in the nude silk lining under the left arm opening, inside. There is a small tear in the black lace less than 1/2 inch across under the right arm, hardly visible. Please see all photos by clicking on the image above. The dress has not been cleaned but it feels fresh and there are no odors, stains, pulls, fading or other issues.
Size: Extra Small. Remember that you want space between you and the dress, it must slip over your shoulders and is not a style that is meant to fit tightly. The bust measures 38 inches, the waist is 33 inches, hips are 38, total length is 51.25 inches. Shoulders are 14.5 inches apart.

Description: This darling dress in pale blue rayon crepe has shirring at the bust and shoulders, teeny muslin shoulder pads, 3/4 length sleeves, and a V neck accented by a large, cheerful bow. There are three horizontal bands of flowers hand embroidered in pink, green, blue and yellow.
Below the bottom band of embroidery, the skirt is pleated. The dress pulls over your head, it has snaps on the side in an opening that is 7 inches long, and two attached ties at the waist that can be tied in a bow in the back. Inside seams are pinked, there is no label. Note that rayon crepe can shrink and this dress should always be dry cleaned, rather than washed.
Condition: In very good clean vintage condition with a little reddish pink mark on the neckline above the bow and slight overall fabric fading.
Size: Small. It's narrow through the shoulders and there is only the small side seam opening ... Bust is 34 inches, the waist is 30 but can be drawn smaller with the ties, hips are 38 inches, shoulders are 14 inches, the sleeves are 15 inches, length is 40.5 inches.

Stunning 1920's Art Deco Black & Silver Beaded Flapper Dress, with provenance

Description: One of the finest examples of 1920's art deco finery that I've beheld - this amazingly beautiful flapper dress is a Vision of the Night! Imagine the girl that danced The Charleston in this wicked beauty! Both front and back are exquisitely handsewn with thousands of tiny silver metallic discs, gunmetal and pearl glass seed beads and bugle beads, and creamy iridescent pearlized sequins. The beadwork shimmers and glitters as it rises up the torso like otherworldly flames.
The bottom of the dress has individual tabard panels all around, encrusted with silver beaded dancing wings and deco arcs - designed to swing when you move. A black lace inset flatters the V neckline in the front, while the back delights any admirer with its overlapping, thrusting, beaded sabers. No labels; however, obviously an extremely well made, quite expensive dress, which is likely European in origin.
This 1920's dress comes from the Denman Thompson estate of West Swanzey, New Hampshire, and is said to have been worn by his granddaughter. (I believe this may have been Melvenah Thompson's daughter, Ethel McFarland's, who would have been in her 30s when this dress was made.) Denman Thompson was a famous theater actor, writer and vaudeville performer best known for writing the play, "The Old Homestead," which earned him over $5 Million and made him a very wealthy man in his day. Daughter Melvenah made the NY Times when thousands of dollars worth of her diamonds and jewels were stolen from her hotel.
Condition: The dress is in overall excellent condition, with a few areas of missing beads and some loose threads. Bead loss is mostly visible around the armscyes, where a previous attempt to stop any loss of beads with the fabric safe product "Fraycheck" unfortunately left a couple of raised, whiteish marks. There is minor bead loss on the rest of the dress, with areas noticeable upon close inspection, but the overall deco design remains largely intact. There is one very small hole in the outer layer on the left side, hardly visible. A bit of a raw edge on the inner slip, just at the arm openings. Very minor. Overall an A grade. Please look at more close-up photos (by clicking through on the pictures above) for precisely documented condition details.
Size: Will fit a Small, Medium or possibly a Large, but remember it's meant to fit loosely with a rectangular, boyish flapper silhouette and no emphasis on the bust or waist. The bust measures 40 inches, the waist is 40, the hips are 42, arm holes large and fairly forgiving at 20 inches around. Total length is 43 inches.
Price: $2,400.00

Description: This dress makes me smile! This 20's day wear darling is made of a lightly horizontal ribbed rayon crepe, in a sharp colorblock look. It's one piece but gives the effect of two, with a warm chili-pepper red top sewn to a chocolate brown skirt. Then there is the charm you get with the ginornous, Minnie Mouse-like, whimsical brown velvet bow that spans the chest all the way to the left shoulder, measuring an astonishing 13.5 inches long and 7.5 inches wide!
The bodice is a modified surplice style that is gathered under the bow. There are small cotton triangle shoulder pads, and it slips over your head and closes with 5 fabric-covered buttons with loop buttonholes at the back of the neck, and 2 metal snaps at the side. Inside seams are pinked, the fabric is slightly sheer, this garment is unlined. No label.
Condition: In very good clean vintage condition with two prior repairs, one about 1/2 inch across on the skirt that closed a tear, in brown thread, and another under the right sleeve, not very noticeable. There's a little bit of a stress area or weakness in the fabric around the skirt repair.
Size: A Small. NOTE: Because this garment has only 2 side snaps and a short row of buttons at the back of the neck, there isn't a lot of extra room to wriggle in, so it is important that you can fit it over your shoulders! Measurements: the bust is 36 inches, the waist is 29-30 inches, hips are 38 inches, shoulders are 14 inches, the sleeves are 9 inches long (measured from the top of the shoulder), bodice length is 15, total length is 46 inches.
Price: $225.00
